Info: Based on the real life story of Gee's Bend resident Mary Lee Bendolph, the play provides an intimate glimpse into her life through the eyes of a character named Sadie. An all-local cast shows how Sadie struggles to become a registered voter in the face of adversity during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, her outlook about life, love and marriage and her desire to preserve her family heritage through her quilting and by holding onto her land in the family. The play was written by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder and is directed locally by Ann Mathews and Clinton Pettway.
