Help Put History Back on the Map!

09/21/2010

Dear Friend,

Please help us ensure that America’s historic and cultural sites and landmarks are included in the conversation about the America’s Great Outdoors Initiative.

President Obama and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar need to hear from you that funding for historic preservation and heritage programs like Save America’s Treasures, Preserve America, National Heritage Areas, the Historic Preservation Fund, and historic and archaeological sites in our National Parks and on public lands are important. This will ensure that America’s Great Outdoors truly preserves our national heritage, including our natural, historic, and cultural legacy, so that all Americans and especially young people can better understand, learn from, and appreciate our rich and diverse past.

The America’s Great Outdoors Initiative is a powerful opportunity to show support for both our diverse history and cultural heritage as well as our natural heritage. Please do all you can to put history back in the conversation about our National Heritage.

Visit National Trust for Historic Preservation to send a message to President Obama and Secretary Salazar today and ask them to provide funding for critical preservation programs, like Save America’s Treasures and the Historic Preservation Fund, through the America’s Great Outdoors Initiative.

Time is running out to convince government officials to include and protect these programs, so when you send this message right now, you will help us make sure that our historic and cultural places will be around for generations to come, and help put history – your history – back on the map.

Sincerely, National Trust for Historic Preservation
